Learning with love
Our new Educare Centre, Funda Ngo Thando, opened in January within the grounds of the Johannesburg Childrens Home. Funda Ngo Thando means ‘learn with love’, and that is exactly what we are offering children in the neighbourhood.
With almost 130 years of providing first class child care, we pride ourselves on understanding how important a loving and caring environment is in promoting a child’s early development. During this first year of operation, we will be taking in one class of children age 2-4. This will grow depending on demand and as additional resources become available and restrictions ease.
All Covid-19 protocols are in place to ensure the safety of these little ones. Our trained educator and her assistant provide a structured programme of quality, play-based educational activities. All the facilities of our Children’s Home – large, beautiful grounds, playground equipment, excellent security, professional kitchen and laundry – are available to children attending Funda Ngo Thando. In addition, the multi- disciplinary team of child care specialists at JCH are on hand to provide additional support if necessary.

We also extend our gratitude to our Urania Village neighbours for bearing with us during the building phase, and for their encouragement to bring this dream to fruition.
