Fun, games and mud at holiday camp!

Thanks to the generosity of kind supporters like you, 21 children were able to go to ‘summer camp’ last December. Needless to say, they had a wonderful time! Thank you to everyone who contributed to make this treat possible.

After all the restrictions of the past two years, when the kids had very few opportunities to enjoy outings of any kind, this special time in the bush meant so much. And Fraaibos Nature Camp, about 20 km north of Brits, was just perfect for them.

Apart from swimming and stories round the campfire at night, the children participated in lots of fun activities designed to encourage personal development, leadership and team building. As always, the obstacle course proved to be the biggest challenge, with children testing their physical abilities to the full.

For many of our kids, who come from situations of abuse and neglect, this kind of experience was a ‘first’. They approached the obstacles with trepidation, convinced that they will not be able to manage them. Their delight, when they find they can, gives their self confidence the most amazing boost. Strong bonds of friendship are also built as the children encourage each other and share their achievements.

Thank you again for giving our children this opportunity.
