Experience Imvelo

Last year, our various social enterprise projects were rebranded under the umbrella, The Imvelo Experience, and officially launched at our 130th birthday celebration. In this way, we’ll be able to engage with a wider audience to create the necessary funding to ensure that The Johannesburg Children’s Home is able to continue caring for vulnerable children into the next century.

Not only that, our goal is to contribute to the local economy by providing high value products and services, whilst at the same time taking positive steps to ensure the protection of our environment.

You’re invited to experience Imvelo in four areas.

Social

Host or attend events in our Imvelo Conference facility, nestled in the peaceful, leafy suburb of Observatory. Beautifully maintained gardens offer opportunities to connect in a calm, green space. With ample safe parking, the venue is ideal for events such as training workshops and seminars, weddings, parties or smaller groups such as book, art or chess clubs.

Included in the package is wi-fi access, a projector and screen, and backup power in the form of a generator. Various meal options are available to suit your needs – from individually packaged breakfasts and lunches, incorporating fresh hand-picked vegetables and herbs in season, to a range of delicious platters and fully catered meals. We guarantee you will not be disappointed!

Grow

The Imvelo Experience offers you access to our Agri- Hub, where you and a group of friends, neighbours or corporate colleagues can reconnect to Mother Earth in our thriving organic food gardens.

Anchored on the principles and practices of organic farming and soil health, this experience is a must for anyone wanting to learn the secrets of growing their own veggies and herbs, compost making, seedling production and agro-processing production.

You can also place a weekly order for seasonal organic vegetables, fresh and dried herbs and seedlings, as well as our range of home industry products, which make great gifts. Join us at our next book and food fair to taste our sauces, condiments and other products.

Connect

Expecting a visit from family, friends or business colleagues from afar? The Imvelo Experience offers a warm welcome at our Cottage on the Curve – a self-catering ‘home away from home’ venue suitable for groups of up to ten.

With easy access to key routes such as OR Tambo International Airport, Johannesburg City Centre and beyond, the Cottage is located within the leafy, safe and peaceful gated Urania Village.

Watch out for our new mid-week, weekend and full week experience packages for agriculture, yoga and book writing.

Legacy

Reduce waste and harmful by- products of manufacturing; re-use, re-purpose and recycle! Our Thrift Up Shop in Soho Square, Norwood, offers a curated range of clean, good quality pre-loved items, for yourself or as gifts for others.

As well as the walk in store, Thrift Up offers an online option where you can buy larger items, such as small appliances and furniture.

Join The Imvelo Experience and help us prosper with the planet and people in mind.
