You can make a difference in so many ways
Our children really need to know they are important ... that they
matter to someone.
Please show them you care by:
Making a cash donation - this is the
most useful gift as it allows us to provide for special needs,
such as soccer boots, art materials, a cricket bat or a Matric
dance dress, as well as the daily necessities of growing children. Click
here to give online now.
Donating gifts in kind - good second-hand
clothing, toiletries, bed linen, toys and sports equipment are
always welcomed with open arms. So are donations of fresh fruit
and other food items. If you are able to assist in this way, please
contact Fiona Duke at our office on tel. 011 648-1120, or
email
pr@jch.org.za.
Volunteering - Volunteers are always
needed to help with admin tasks, homework, befriending individual
children, transport, extra mural activities, fundraising and other
tasks. Click here to download the
Volunteer Application Form, or
tel. Narisha Govender on 011 648 1120.
'Adopting' a child - each child has
individual needs and our sponsors contribute R7 200 per year towards
these needs - which could be homework assistance, extra lessons,
psychosocial therapy, school outings and so on.
You receive regular progress reports
on the child you're sponsoring and have the opportunity to send
a gift for their birthday and Christmas. If you would like to adopt
a child, please click here.
'Adopting' a cottage -
there are 8 cottages which may be sponsored at a cost of R12 000
each per year. While this does not cover the total cost, it ensures
the general upkeep and maintenance of a specific cottage.
A great way for corporates to get involved, you then have the
opportunity to involve your staff in hosting a Christmas party
for the children in 'your' cottage.
BEE score -
supporting the Johannesburg Children's Home can enhance your BEE
rating. Our current complement of children includes 5 white males,
7 white females, 25 black males, 17 black females, 1 Indian female,
4 coloured males and 2 coloured females.
Sponsoring
a birthday party -
because this is the one day of the year when each child is special,
we tend to make a big deal about birthdays, with a birthday cake,
chips, sweets and cool drink, as well as a small gift for the
birthday boy or girl. If you would like to sponsor a party, or
provide the eats and drinks, kindly contact Fiona Duke on
011 648 1120 or email pr@jch.org.za.
Get a MyVillage card naminating the
Johannesburg Children's Home as the beneficiary. Every time you
swipe your card at Woolworths or other participating retailers,
a percentage of the sale is donated to us – at no cost to you!
Please call Margaret on 011 648 1120 for an application form.
